Dermal Fillers

Achieve a natural-looking, youthful appearance

Dermal Fillers in Colleyville

Enhance your natural beauty and replace what age has taken away

Dermal Fillers are a trending cosmetic treatment that has recently started gaining popularity. This non-invasive treatment helps our skin regain its youthful appearance.

Aging is just part of life, and as we age, we lose fat and volume in areas of our face, and our skin becomes thinner. These changes cause the appearance of wrinkles.

Most fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid, a substance your body produces naturally to help provide fullness and elasticity to your skin. Unfortunately, as we age, our bodies stop making as much. Therefore, when we inject the filler into a specific facial region, it adds more volume and plumps the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and folds. We often use fillers to smooth out lines, add volume to lips, or lift and contour cheeks.

Filler Treatment Areas

Cheeks: Sunken cheeks are a common concern for many of our clients. This change often occurs underneath the eyes and can make your eyes appear to sink in. A dermal filler can help to add volume to these areas of the cheek to provide a more youthful look.

Laugh Lines: These creases in the face usually extend from the corners of the mouth up to the Nasolabial folds of your nose. Dermal fillers are particularly good at reducing the appearance of these lines.

Lips: Lip Fillers have become an increasingly popular treatment in recent years. Filler can help to plump the lips to achieve a fuller pout, and can also help to reduce lines and creases that can form on the lips themselves.

Lip/Chin Lines: These are vertical lines that extend either up or down from the lips, typically just caused by age. Filler is a great option for reducing these noticeable wrinkles.

Are Dermal Fillers the right treatment for you?

With all the different treatments to fight wrinkles today, it can be confusing to know which one is exactly right for you. The most common question we hear is, “should I get Botox or Dermal Fillers?”

This is a great question; the answer mainly depends on the problem areas you’re trying to treat.

Botox and Dermal Fillers actually work very differently to help treat unique problems. Botox helps to freeze the muscles at specific crease points on the face, such as around the eyes and forehead, that produce wrinkles during expressions. We recommend Dermal Fillers for lines, wrinkles, or folds present when your face is at rest or just to plump and contour parts of the face.

You might also consider laser treatments, like IPL Photofacials or CO2 Laser Resurfacing. These treatments are great for reducing the appearance of wrinkles by firming and rejuvenating the skin. However, they will not restore any volume to your face.

At North Texas MedSpa, your injection specialist will thoroughly discuss your needs and expectations to help you decide on the right treatments to achieve your desired look.

How Can I Make My Dermal Fillers Last Longer?

Although dermal fillers are an excellent option for younger, healthier-looking skin, they are not permanent. Fillers consist of natural ingredients—collagen and hyaluronic acid, or neurotoxins in Botox—that are safely absorbed by the body over time.

Dermal fillers may last for up to 2 years, while lip fillers typically last for 12-18 months.

Botox is absorbed a little more quickly; however, subsequent treatments often last longer. The first treatment may only remain for 2-4 months, but the next can stay for as long as 6 months.

Regardless of which type of injection you receive, there are steps you can take to ensure you get the most out of your treatments.

  1. Stay Hydrated — Drinking plenty of water will help to reduce how quickly your body absorbs the ingredients.
  2. Practice Good Skincare — Keeping your skin clean and moisturized will help your results last longer. Talk to your technician about skincare recommendations.
  3. Protect Your Skin — The sun’s harmful UV rays cause damage and inflammation that can more quickly reverse the effects of your fillers. Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible, and wear high-quality broad-spectrum sunscreen at all times.
  4. Eat Clean and Take Supplements — Avoiding processed foods and sugars and eating clean helps your whole body’s health, which leads to more youthful-looking skin. Additionally, zinc has strong anti-aging factors that may help the longevity of Botox and fillers.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers

It depends on the type of filler and the area where it’s applied, but it can last anywhere from 6-18 months.

Most fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid (or HA), which is actually a naturally occurring substance in the body. This means that it is easily accepted and broken down over time by the body.

There are several different popular brands and dozens of different types of fillers that each brand offers, with a variety of different thickness for different uses. Your injection specialist will be able to help you decide which filler is right for you based on the look you’re trying to achieve.
