Microdermabrasion

For the smoother, brighter skin you deserve

Plan ahead for Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion Facial

Professional exfoliation that reveals fresher, more beautiful skin

If you want smooth, rejuvenated skin but have concerns about chemical peels, a Microdermabrasion Facial is perfect for you.

This safe, non-invasive procedure “sands” away the top layer of skin to promote cell renewal and reveal the younger, brighter, smoother underneath. Furthermore, the results are quick; they may even be immediate, depending on the skin issues you’re treating.

Best of all, Microdermabrasion is effective for all skin tones and types and doesn’t require any downtime.

What Does Microdermabrasion Treat?

This painless procedure uses a tool that sprays the treatment area with fine, skin-safe crystals that gently rub away the outermost layer of skin. These crystals are simultaneously suctioned away, leaving cleaner, smoother skin.

Some of the issues that microdermabrasion treats include:

  • Uneven skin tone
  • Rough texture and dull complexion
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Enlarged pores and blackheads
  • Hyperpigmentation and age spots
  • Sun damage

How to Prepare for a Microdermabrasion Facial

Because this treatment is non-invasive and involves no chemicals, preparation is easy!

For the week before your appointment, avoid sun exposure and tanning beds, and stop using self-tanning, waxing, and depilatory products in the treatment area. Because it can temporarily increase skin sensitivity, avoid exfoliating products and masks for three days prior.

On the day of your Microdermabrasion Facial, arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.

Most importantly, discuss your skin concerns and history with your technician before scheduling. We want to ensure it’s the most appropriate treatment for your needs and skincare goals.

Read our Pre- and Post-Procedure Instructions for Microdermabrasion for more detailed recommendations on preparing for your treatment and aftercare.

Frequently Asked Questions About Microdermabrasion

No, Microdermabrasion doesn’t hurt. Most people don’t find it uncomfortable at all, while others have described it as a rough feeling akin to a cat’s tongue.

Some sensitivity is possible after your procedure, but it usually disappears in less than 24 hours and can be diminished with moisturizing products.

For most people, the only side effects are redness and tenderness that disappear within a few hours after treatment. In very rare cases, bruising and minor abrasions can happen.

Although Microdermabrasion is considered safe, some people should seek other solutions. Discuss treatment options with your aesthetician if you have:

  • severe active acne,
  • open sores or wounds,
  • a recent herpes outbreak,
  • skin cancer,
  • undiagnosed lesions,
  • psoriasis and other skin-affecting autoimmune conditions
  • Or any other condition that could be cause for concern.

Aftercare is simple. First, keep your skin clean and free of heavy makeup or harsh chemicals. Use pH-balanced cleansers and apply gentle, light moisturizers or the products your technician recommends.

For the first 24 hours, avoid sun exposure and hot temperatures, such as those in saunas, hot tubs, and hot showers. Then, continue practicing sun safety by wearing high-SPF sunscreen and avoiding exposure throughout the healing process.

If you experience peeling (a common occurrence), do not pick or pull at loose skin.

The number of treatments you need depends on the severity of your skin issues. Your technician will discuss the best treatment plan for you, but most people see the most significant results within 6-12 treatments every 2-4 weeks.
