HydraFacial Pre- and Post-Procedure Instructions

HydraFacial Pre- and Post-Procedure Instructions

One of our most popular facials, the amazing HydraFacial is a powerful yet gentle 3-in-1 treatment that leaves your skin cleaner, smoother, and glowing.

  1. It cleans and exfoliates to freshen the top layer of your skin.
  2. It extracts debris from pores while supplying your skin with much-needed hydration.
  3. And it saturates your skin with peptides and boosters to protect and revitalize your skin.

It is a very safe and effective facial that is suitable for all skin types. However, to receive the best results and avoid unnecessary side effects, please read and follow all pre- and post-procedure instructions for the HydraFacial.

HydraFacial Pre-Care Instructions

  • Avoid sun exposure for 1 week before treatment and use SPF 30 daily to ensure coverage against UVB and UBA rays.
  • Do not use harsh exfoliants for 1 week prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue using Tretinoin-type products (Renova, Tretinoin, Retin-A, Retin-A Micro, Tri-Luma, Solage, etc.) for at least 2-3 days before your appointment.
  • Stop using Hydroquinone 2-3 days before treatment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, consider beginning prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar no later than the day before your HydraFacial.
  • It is not recommended to receive a HydraFacial within the first 2 weeks of Botox or dermal filler injections.
  • If you become unwell or develop a cold sore, acne, or open lesions in the treated area, notify us as soon as possible to discuss the situation and possibly reschedule your treatment.

Aftercare for HydraFacial

  • You may resume your normal skin care regimen 2 days after treatment. Until then, use gentle cleansers and moisturizers.
  • If your skin still feels irritated, spot-test your skin care products first to avoid more discomfort or reactions.
  • Discontinue Retin-A for 2 days following treatment.
  • Avoid unprotected sun exposure and tanning beds for at least the first 2 days.
  • Use sunscreen SPF 30 or higher daily.
  • You may apply makeup immediately after your treatment if desired. However, you should avoid getting your face wet (from washing or sweating) for 6 hours to allow time for boosters to fully penetrate your skin.

What to Expect After a HydraFacial

Unlike many facial treatments, you may not experience any side effects from a HydraFacial at all. You’ll notice smoother, more glowing skin without any discomfort or periods of healing.

Depending on boosters or skin sensitivity, you could experience some light redness or tingling immediately after treatment. You may also have some light flaking within the first few days. These minor side effects, if you experience them at all, will disappear within 2-3 days.
